June 21 is observed as International Day of Yoga every year since the United Nations declared it in 2015. The International Yoga Day is observed to spread awareness about the practice of yoga and its holistic approach to physical and mental well-being. The International Day of Yoga aims to inculcate a habit of meditation for the peace of mind and the self-awareness which is necessary to survive in a stress-free environment.
In Puducherry, Lt. Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundrarajan inaugurated the 8th International Yoga day celebrations at Gandhi Thidal on June 21st. The Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mr. L. Murugan, participated as special guest. Chief Minister Mr. . Rangasamy, his cabinet colleagues, Assembly speaker Mr. R. Selvam, senior officials, yoga experts and students participated in the event.
Our students also participated in the event and performed various Yoga asanas. They were appreciated for their performance.
